Course Requirements : Take the provided pretest, read the online book “Time Well Spent : A Manual for Visiting Older Adults” by Gayle Allen Burket, and take the provided post test.

You may email, mail or fax your materials to DH Special Services. Once the materials are received and a passing grade is determined, your certificate will be emailed and a hard copy mailed to you.

Course Content: The reading will define the importance of creating a structured and individualized 1-1 program for residents who do not participate in group activities. The participant will be introduced to specific 1-1 approaches which are tailored to the functional needs and losses of the elderly population. The reading will also introduce how to develop and manage a volunteer program which will support the 1-1 program.
