Course Requirements : Take the provided pretest; read the booklet “Understanding Behavioral Symptoms: Whose Problem is it?” by Debbie Hommel, ACC, CTRS; take the provided post test; and complete the worksheet.
You may email, mail or fax your materials to DH Special Services. Once the materials are received and a passing grade of 70 is determined, your certificate will be mailed to you. If you are in need of the certificate sooner, a copy can be faxed to you and the original mailed.
Course Content: The reading and the worksheet will guide the activity professional in understanding the basic concepts of behavior management. The fundamentals of seeking causes of behaviors as well as specific interventions in response to behavioral symptoms will be reviewed. The activity professional will gain greater understanding of behaviors and how to address the needs of the resident through the environment, activities and caregiver approach.
