Course Content: Comfort care at end of life emphasizes dignity, comfort, and quality of life during a resident’s final days. This course helps activity professionals understand their unique role in providing meaningful presence, sensory comfort, emotional support, and individualized engagement at the end of life.

Course Objectives:

Participant will identify common physical, emotional, social, and spiritual changes experienced by individuals at the end of life
Participant will communicate effectively and compassionately with residents and families during the end-of-life process.
Participant will recognize signs of caregiver stress and grief and identify appropriate strategies for self-care and professional support.
Participant will explain the role of the interdisciplinary team in providing end-of-life care, including nursing, activities, social services, chaplaincy, and hospice.
