Creative Expression with Individuals with Dementia

Course Requirements : Take the provided pretest, read the book “Dementia Arts: Celebrating Creativity in Elder Care” by Gary Glazner, and take the provided post test . You may mail or fax your materials to DH Special Services. Once the materials are received and a passing grade is determined, a scanned copy of your certificate will be e-mailed with a hard copy mailed to you.
Course Content: This program introduces the concept of creative writing and poetry as a means for reminiscing and cognitive stimulation for the individual with dementia. Specific writing techniques and methods to engage the participant are defined through examples and individual stories.
