PRACTICUM

Practicum Experience: All classes require a 90 hour practicum, to be completed in conjunction with the course. The practicum assignments are a combination of written assignments, practical application of group and 1-1 techniques, and implementation of professional tasks. Practicum assignments are completed at an approved site and under the guidance of a practicum supervisor. All practicum assignments are designed to be useful and helpful in the participants future as an activity leader and manager.

The National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) is one of the Certifying Bodies recognized by Federal law, and incorporated in many state regulations. NCCAP is the Gold Standard when it comes to certifying activity professionals who work with the elderly.

There are four levels of certification. Following are the requirements for Activity Assistant Certified (AAC), and Activity Director Certified (ADC).
