This position is for Jersey Shore Adult Day Center in Monmouth County.

The Activities Aide provides assistance in a broad program of

activities provided at the center for frail or functionally impaired adults. Performs related duties as required.

 

Responsibilities:

  RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists in providing a comprehensive program of activities, tailored to meet the needs of the program participants, to promote optimum health, independence, and self-care. 2. Assists in developing specific activities for the program. 3. Sets up and operates equipment; leads games, singing, and discussions; conducts exercise activities, and interacts with participants on an individual basis. 4. Works with staff on particular projects and special events. 5. Assists in serving and cleaning up after meals. Assists in keeping the center in a clean and orderly condition. 6. Notes any changes in participant's physical and emotional health and communicates this information to the appropriate staff person. 7. Assists participants with activities of daily living ( ADL's) 8. May perform blood pressure, blood sugar and weight monitoring tasks after successfully completing in-house training 9. May be asked to drive clients to and from the facility and to any other appointment or trip. 10. Maintains standard records of worked performed. May make brief oral or written reports, as requested. 11. Personal attitude must reflect center's philosophy of care 12. Follow all in-services, policies & procedures that were clarified for me and that are written in the center's policy and procedure manual 13. May perform other duties as directed by the Administrator or Supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of principles and techniques involved in dealing with the physical, mental and emotional health of the functionally impaired participants. 2. Skill in assisting activities staff to implement activities. 3. Skill in personally leading activity groups and in using equipment of the facility for programs. 4. Skill in developing positive rapport with participants. 5. Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) preferred but not required. 6. Skill in some activity area such as music, art or crafts preferred, but not required.
